More controversial is if reduced functional ability effects HRQo L.
HRQo L can be ascertained using a wide range of questionnaire-based tools; however, the Short Form-36 (SF-36) has been widely accepted as a measure of HRQo L and is an appropriate instrument for use with older adults [11–13].
A torque dynamometer was utilised to measure muscle moments at the knee and hip joints.
The interrelationships between impairments (muscle strength), activity limitations (reduction in joint moments during functional activity) and participation restriction [health-related quality of life (HRQo L)] have not been evaluated in healthy older adults.
An association between general health (GH) and muscle function in relation to muscle mass and grip strength [6, 7] has been reported in healthy older adults.
Research into the relationship between physical performance and quality of life (QOL) in a non-healthy population of older adults reported a disease dependent reduction in knee extensor strength, grip strength, functional activity and quality of life .
I don’t feel like I’m making progress or learning anything, and I know its not true, but I confess, I’m terrified. I have never been good at following through, what if this is another attempt where I fail? Bad days hurt more when I’m hiding like this, but on good days its easy to tell myself the bad days wont come back.
(Never-mind the fact that hes been there encouraging me to fail since I was 18…) And I don’t want to believe this is my reality. I wish he did look like a monster, I wish his evil was out there for everyone to see.
HRQo L is a generic measure of quality of life with emphasis on both negative health and positive well-being of an individual.
